Drop Dead Diva (comedy, courtroom drama)
Brooke Elliot is an American actress who plays a skinny blonde model who died and switched bodies with a plus size cynical lawyer.
Cinta 100kg (comedy, Malay language spoken)
Sherry Alhadad is local celebrity here in Malaysia (and she has even modeled for Mis Claire back in the day). Here she portrays a young woman who attracts a bevy of good-looking guys while navigating through life to be with The One. P.s.: Spot the Mis Claire active wear that she wears in some of the scenes!
Good Girls (soccer mom crimes, family drama)
Christina Hendricks, Mae Whitman and Ruby Hill play a group of mothers who are pushed to live a life of crime because of the circumstances of their lives. To me, they have real bodies and it is such a refreshing take on such a good show that usually highlights unrealistically skinny women.
This Is Us (family drama, filled with plot twists)
Prepare a big box of tissues! A story set around triplets - including plus size actress Chrissy Metz as Kate - involves a lot of flashbacks to tell a very dramatic story of their family life. In real life, Chrissy Metz is all the lead singer in her band Chrissy and The Vapors. Rock on, girl!
Dietland (dark comedy, political activism)
Based on a book of the same name, this series is really raw and sometimes quite painful to watch - but is deeper than just about fat people - it is also about feminism and extremists.
Shrill (comedy)
Shrill follows a plus size writer (why are they all writers) who is self-conscious about her body as she tries to find herself as someone who writes meaningful articles. What I loved about this series are the many instances of confident and gorgeous plus size women who goes around their day (keep your eyes opened for the scene with the lady in red buying flowers, and the pool party scene!)
