The Logical Dressing Of The Pear Body Type (Mis Claire Lookbook)

Like in the previous post, I mentioned the 3 common types of plus size shapes that we can find in Malaysia. I will break down each of the body types and show examples of the best dressing for each, while explaining the logical reasoning for it. So get ready for a photo-heavy blog - all photos featured below are from www.misclaire.com and you can click on them for links!

In this post, we will only talk about the pear body shape, which is bottom-heavy - your hips are larger in width and circumference than your bust and waist. My aim in dressing is only to balance out the body, but if you love your curves, by all means, flaunt it!

1. Wear an eye-catching top to attract the eyes upwards and away from the hips, hence creating a more balanced figure. Here, this model is wearing a bright yellow floral top (the patterns are big which attracts the eye even more) and a well-fitted pair of plain pants.

2. Add bulk to the upper part of your body to balance out the bottom - this is perfect as the jacket is structured and bright in colour, compared to the skirt. The skirt is soft and flowy which does not hug the hips and create a vertical illusion with the lines caused by the draping.

3. Find outerwear with structure (like shoulder pads) and maybe in a fun colour or print, and make sure they are not too long (best is fit they sit slightly above the hips). Below, model wears a simple black ensemble with a write structured blazer over it, which perfectly balances out the figure.

4. Find a flattering hip first that doesn't hug or get stuck to your bottom half. A loose A-line skirt is perfect, but make sure the fabric is heavy enough to drape over your figure, or else it will bunch up and bring more attention to the hips.
